UNIVERSAL MOUSE: Maybe you think everybody in the world knows who Mickey Mouse is. The Disney folks aren’t taking any chances. They’ve just opened a set of “Disney Corners” stores--a joint venture with CTC Consumer Products--in Saudi Arabia. . . . Mickey was there for Monday’s grand opening, of course. And just in case the Saudis are wondering who this is, a weekly Disney magazine will begin to circulate in the Gulf Region in September--in Arabic.

DAVE’S WAY? Parents and teachers at Sunny Hills High School worry that the pressure to succeed is more than some of their students can handle. So they’ve invited local radio psychologist David Viscott to speak tonight at 7 at the Fullerton school’s Performing Arts Center. . . . “His message is for both parents and students,” says Carol Edmonston, co-chair of the $10-a-ticket event, who has heard him speak numerous times. “Dr. Viscott can help us look at life a little more simplistically.”

POST OSCAR COOL: You might think Debbie Allen would want a day of rest after her elaborate choreography of Monday night’s Oscars. But there’s no time. She’s in Newport Beach today directing scenes for “Out of Sync,” a new movie with L.L. Cool J and Howard Hesseman. “She’s a busy lady,” says the city’s film consultant, Joseph Cleary. The movie drama, which Cleary says is scheduled for summer release, will shoot scenes around the Balboa Peninsula.

HOLLYWOOD SOUTH? It’s not Oscars that county officials envision if movies are shot here--it’s profits. The county and the Orange County Chamber of Commerce meet Wednesday with the state Film Commission to unveil plans for the county’s new film office. They hope to lure the kind of filmmakers who are pumping an estimated $23 million annually into San Diego County using locations there. Says Supervisor Gaddi H. Vasquez: “We’re going to get out and promote ourselves. If they don’t know we’re here, they won’t come.”
