P.V. Estates Residents to Help Plan Memorial for Officers
Seven residents of Palos Verdes Estates have been chosen to help honor two city police officers who were killed in February.
The residents will work with City Council staff to develop a plan to refurbish Palos Verdes Memorial Garden on Palos Verdes Drive West to include a memorial for Capt. Michael W. Tracy and Sgt. Vernon (Tom) Vanderpool. The officers were shot to death by a robber during a business meeting at the Holiday Inn in Torrance on Feb. 14.
A design will be presented to the Planning Commission and Parklands Committee on May 31, City Clerk Barbara Culver said. The council will have a dedication ceremony on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
