BEVERLY HILLS : Ex-Attorney Gets 21 Months, to Pay $290,000 in Tax Evasion

A former Beverly Hills attorney who pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion charges has been sentenced to 21 months in prison and ordered to pay $290,000 in restitution.

Allan S. Rosenblum, 37, had pleaded guilty earlier this year to the tax charge and to filing a false income tax return.

Assistant U.S. Atty. Alka Sagar said this week that Rosenblum failed to report $633,000 in income from 1986 through 1988. Most of that income, she said, was derived from personal injury claims filed on behalf of his clients.

Sagar said Rosenblum was suspended by the California State Bar in 1992 after he was convicted in Los Angeles Superior Court of conspiracy, preparing a fraudulent insurance claim and attempted grand theft. The attorney resigned from the Bar last year, she said.
