GE Capital to Nominate a Slate for Kemper’s Board: In the latest volley in its unfolding battle for Kemper Corp., the mutual-fund giant, Stamford, Ct.-based General Electric Capital Services said it would put up its own nominees to the four Kemper seats up for election at the annual meeting May 11. The open seats include the one held by Kemper Chairman David Mathis. GE Capital said its nominees pledge, if elected, to try to persuade the full board to negotiate Kemper’s sale to GE Capital for at least the $55 per share, or $2.2 billion, already bid. The Kemper board thus far has spurned the deal. The four candidates are all former executives of GE Capital or its parent, General Electric.
