Share

The first gang member to be convicted of violating the court injunction aimed at curbing Blythe Street gang activities is in trouble again.

Jessie Gonzales, 19, who goes by his gang name of Speedy, was arrested twice last week on additional charges that he violated the injunction and also the provisions of his probation, according to a statement released Wednesday from the city attorney’s office.

These arrests marked his third and fourth since his conviction in August on violating the injunction that bans possession of a pager, obstruction of traffic and other activities associated with gangs in the Blythe Street area.

On March 17, according to the statement, police say they spotted Gonzales on Chase Street at the northern end of the area defined by the injunction, stopping traffic and wearing a pager.

The next day, Gonzales was arrested on a charge that he entered an area that is off limits to him under the terms of his probation.

A hearing on the latest two arrests is scheduled for April 6 in Van Nuys Municipal Court.
