The El Sereno Coordinating Council will sponsor a historical discussion led by environmental planner and historian George Casen about the area from 1769 to the 1950s. The April 18 lecture will begin at 5:30 p.m. at El Sereno Recreation & Park Auditorium, 4721 Klamath St., and will last about two hours.

The library, at 4990 Huntington Drive, will hold an astronomy program from 6 to 8 p.m. April 18, featuring a speaker from Griffith Park Observatory.
