Photograph of Child on Bike Was Irresponsible

* It was very irresponsible of you to publish the photo headlined “Biker’s Double Dare” (March 15).

The picture shows children lying on the ground, susceptible to no less than a few broken ribs from the cyclist riding over them. If the child riding the bike should make an error, he could land directly on one of the boys and cause severe internal injuries.

I realize this child races bikes, but even the most proficient rider occasionally falls.

My other complaint about this picture, where is the boy’s helmet? Actually not only should he, by law, be wearing a helmet, he is doing stunts on his bicycle and should be completely outfitted with kneepads, elbow pads and so on.
