LOS ANGELES : Community College Board OKs Pay Hikes for 3 Groups
Three of the largest employee groups in the Los Angeles Community College District will get 3% pay raises retroactive to January.
The district’s seven-member board unanimously approved a pair of new three-year contracts with its faculty and staff unions and a separate action giving the same raise to unrepresented employees.
The raises approved Wednesday will be the first since the 1989-90 school year for permanent faculty, technical and clerical staff, and non-union workers.
The faculty contract also provides a separate 5.7% raise in the hourly rate paid to part-time instructors who won’t get the regular 3% raise.
Officials in the financially strapped district said most of the money for the raises will come from $13 million in savings the district expects to achieve from health plan changes.
