The Dodgers made their final cuts Friday night to bring their opening day roster to 25 players. They will carry 11 pitchers--including one left-handed reliever--seven infielders, five outfielders and two catchers. Cory Snyder, who has been sidelined all spring with various injuries, was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 25.

To make room for Darren Dreifort and Chan Ho Park, the Dodgers outrighted pitcher Kip Gross to triple-A Albuquerque, and pitcher Ricky Trlicek was claimed on waivers by the Boston Red Sox. Left-hander Gary Wayne made the club and Al Osuna, whom the Dodgers just acquired in a trade with the Houston Astros, was optioned to Albuquerque. Other remaining pitchers are starters Pedro Astacio, Tom Candiotti, Kevin Gross, Orel Hershiser and Ramon Martinez, and relievers Dreifort, Park, Jim Gott, Roger McDowell and Todd Worrell.

Backup infielders are Jeff Treadway and Rafael Bournigal. Mike Sharperson did not make it, but was asked to stay through Sunday’s game. Other infielders are Delino DeShields, Dave Hansen, Eric Karros, Jose Offerman and Tim Wallach. Besides regular outfielders Darryl Strawberry, Brett Butler and Raul Mondesi, the team will carry Henry Rodriguez and Mitch Webster. The catchers are Mike Piazza and Carlos Hernandez.

It didn’t take long for some of the crowd of 34,621 at Dodger Stadium Friday night to boo Strawberry. In the first inning of the Angels’ 2-0 victory, Strawberry misplayed a double by Damion Easley, which allowed Chad Curtis to score. The boos continued throughout the night, as Strawberry went hitless in four at-bats. . . . DeShields, in his first appearance at Dodger Stadium, made some great plays at second base and Curtis leaped and reached over the wall in center field to rob Piazza of a home run. John Dopson got the victory and Joe Grahe the save. Orel Hershiser took the loss. The series moves to Anaheim Stadium for a 7 p.m. game tonight and a 1 p.m. game Sunday.
