LENNON ROM: One artist whose work is being discussed as the basis for a possible CD-ROM project is John Lennon. Capitol Records executives have been in discussion with his widow Yoko Ono about developing a CD-ROM project about the late rock star.

This is one of several projects being proposed to honor Lennon, including talks about what a Capitol spokesman describes as “the definitive Lennon box set” anthology (a Lennon box featuring all of his solo tracks was released in England only two years ago) and a possible album of other artists performing Lennon songs.

The latter is said to be the outgrowth of numerous artists’ asking permission to record Lennon songs, though Capitol would not say what artists might be included on such a tribute album.

A George Harrison tribute album is also being planned, with Harrison himself apparently taking the lead in the project’s development. Harrison reportedly sent letters to several managers asking if their artists would be interested. If he gets enough commitments, the project will be released through Giant Records.
