SIMI VALLEY : Computer Parts Destroyed in Fire

Share

A computer-repair business in Simi Valley suffered about $110,000 damage in a two-alarm fire that swept through a large industrial building, authorities said.

The fire at Independent Technology, 310 E. Easy St., was reported just after 11 p.m. Thursday and was extinguished by firefighters about 30 minutes later.

The blaze caused an estimated $10,000 worth of damage to the 15,000-square-foot warehouse and destroyed $100,000 worth of computer parts, County Fire Investigator Peter Cronk said.

A cause has not been determined, but Cronk said it started inside a stockroom.

Fire Capt. Keith Mashburn said fire crews had a tough time locating the fire because the smoke inside the warehouse was so dense. To vent the building, firefighters cut holes in the roof.

Chris Prinkey, the company’s operations director, said the fire and smoke damage is covered by insurance.
