Groups Benefit From Quiet Zone Theatre

Share

A theater group that performs for deaf people and those who are hard of hearing has given almost $5,000 to county organizations that help hearing-impaired people.

The Quiet Zone Theatre’s directors voted recently to give the money to University High School in Irvine, Taft Elementary School in Santa Ana and Terry Sproul’s Deaf Kids Kamp.

More than 60 people worked to put on the nonprofit theater group’s performances in February in Laguna Beach to raise the money.

The group sold out its three performances in Laguna Beach and one at University High School.

Quiet Zone Theatre has performed at Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm, producer Joshua Vecchione said.

The 7-year-old theater recently decided to lease a 1,950-square-foot building in Lake Forest for storage and rehearsal.

The group also would like to offer sign language classes and workshops at the location.

The group is looking to perform at other locations this year, Vecchione said.
