Nuclear Plant Put on Alert After Safety System Fails

LOWER ALLOWAYS CREEK TOWNSHIP, N.J. —
The Salem One nuclear power plant was placed on alert Thursday because a safety system did not operate properly after a cooling intake was blocked by grass, officials said.
Plant operators said no radioactive material was released and there was no danger to the public.
