Teamsters to Meet With 18 Small Trucking Firms: The union will meet today with officials from the companies that want to resume operations after being shut down by a nationwide strike. The firms would operate under an interim agreement until the strike is settled and a final contract is reached. No negotiations, however, are scheduled with the four largest trucking firms hit by the three-day-old walkout. The strike involving about 75,000 Teamsters has resulted in a few arrests, including those of seven members in Riverside County on Thursday. On Friday, sheriff’s deputies served union officials with a court injunction restricting the number of pickets outside the Consolidated Freightways terminal in Mira Loma to 20.
