LAKE FOREST : Community Funding Workshop Offered

Residents and nonprofit groups interested in taking advantage of federal community development funds can apply to City Hall through May 5.

Known as Community Block Development Grants, the city is administering $371,000 in federal funding for individuals and service projects for the 1994-95 fiscal year.

After incorporating in 1991, this is the first year that Lake Forest is eligible to control the grant money.

Intended for people of low or moderate income levels, the funds can be used for housing rehabilitation, infrastructure improvements like street curb repair, and social service projects.

Housing and Urban Development Department will limit the amount that Lake Forest can distribute for social programs to $55,650.

To help residents and groups learn how the grant funding can be used, the city will conduct a workshop at City Hall, at 23778 Mercury Road, at 7 p.m. April 25.

All grant applications must be returned to the city by 5 p.m. May 5.
