AND ONE MORE THING: “Rock Talk,” a new book collecting amusing quotes by and about rockers, includes, among other things, a whole short chapter on “Guitar Smashing 101.” Quoted, naturally, on the subject of instrument destroying are the likes of Pete Townshend and Kurt Cobain. But also represented is Les Paul, the inventor of the electric guitar, who says of the smashing: “I encourage them because they have to go out and buy more guitars.”
