USAir Plans Hirings: The carrier said it will hire about 800 part-time reservation agents--some from previous layoffs--and about 200 flight attendants. A 49% increase in calls to USAir reservation centers since March, 1993, sparked the move, a spokeswoman said. The airline said it expects to lose more than $200 million in the first quarter of 1994 but that lower fares appear to be leading to an increase in passengers. USAir lost millions of dollars in the past year and cut hundreds of jobs. It recently asked its unions to start discussions on wage, benefit and work-rule concessions.
