Trustee in Critical Condition After Collapsing at Meeting
A Saugus Union School District trustee is in critical condition after collapsing at a board meeting Tuesday night.
Betty Lund, 54, was taken by ambulance to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia. Specific information about her condition is not being released by the hospital.
About 90 minutes into the session, Lund suddenly leaned over in her chair, said Supt. Troy Bramlett, who was at the meeting.
Lund had high blood pressure but had not otherwise complained of health problems, Bramlett said.
The meeting was held to discuss principal and teacher transfers in the district. More than 50 parents and teachers were in attendance.
Some parents were complaining about the transfer by Principal Evie Gustafson of two teachers from Santa Clarita Elementary School.
Gustafson’s own request for a transfer to another school in the district was announced Tuesday.
The meeting was halted after Lund was taken to the hospital.
