Share

Officials from around Ventura County will discuss how local agencies will deal with an expected shortfall in next year’s state budget at a seminar scheduled for Saturday in Camarillo.

The public is invited to attend the luncheon meeting, which is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Ventura County and starts at 10 a.m. at McCarthy’s restaurant, 1101 E. Daily Drive.

Among the speakers will be Ventura County Supervisor John K. Flynn, taxpayer advocate Mike Saliba and Camarillo’s director of finance, Anita Bingham.

A key aspect of Gov. Pete Wilson’s proposed $55.4-billion state budget is to shift a larger share of fiscal responsibility for social-service programs, such as Aid to Families With Dependent Children and Medi-Cal, to the state’s 58 counties. Flynn is expected to talk about how that will affect Ventura County’s budget.

Admission is $13.95. For more information or reservations, call 642-8078.
