Compaq Premium PC Line Progresses: The company will announce today advances to its top line of personal computers aimed chiefly at businesses. The models, in a line called DeskPro XL, will use the latest high-speed 486 and Pentium microprocessors from Intel Corp. Compaq Computer Corp. has improved some of the technical and ergonomic designs from its previous high-end line, called DeskPro M. Some of the new computers will have room to be upgraded to the next Intel chip, code-named P6, which is expected to be ready in mid- to late 1995. The Compaq machines will be the first capable of using the more powerful P6. Compaq is expected to announce sharply lower prices for the models.
