CAMARILLO : Commission to Study Developer’s Request

Share

Members of the Camarillo Planning Commission tonight will consider a request by Pardee Construction Co. to build 160 condominiums and 42 single-family homes on a 19-acre parcel on the city’s east side.

Staff members are recommending approval of the homes to be located near Mission Oaks Boulevard and Woodcreek Road.

But Matthew Boden, city director of planning and community development, said he also has concerns about excess noise from Mission Oaks Boulevard for homes on four lots.

Boden said staff is recommending that the commission ask Pardee to construct a wall and redesign some driveway entrances from Mission Oaks to help dampen noise.

The project must still be approved by the City Council because it has fewer homes than first planned.

Pardee Project Manager Bill Teller said the company opted to go with a lighter density development because of the surrounding neighborhood.

“We just felt a less dense development worked better with the characteristics of that particular neighborhood,” he said. “It’s really a better fit.”

The Planning Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 601 Carmen Drive.
