A 2-year-old child allegedly abducted by her father after the toddler’s mother had been stabbed in the knee was left unharmed with a relative Tuesday. Police continue to search for the father, authorities said.

Police responded to a call at an apartment in the 9400 block of Van Nuys Boulevard about 10:40 p.m. Monday, where Deana Brown, 22, told officers that her daughter had been taken by the girl’s father, Ernesto Perez Torres, 20, of San Fernando, Los Angeles Police Detective Richard Richter said.

Brown told officers that Torres had burst into her apartment, assaulted her and left with the couple’s daughter, police said.

Brown was treated at a hospital for a stab wound to her knee, Richter said.

Several hours later, Torres telephoned an unidentified relative and released the child, police said.
