Apple Computer Inc. said its second-quarter profit fell 84%, another reflection of the squeeze on its prices during the past year.

Apple earned $17.4 million, or 15 cents a share, for the three months ended April 1. That compares to $110.9 million, or 92 cents a share, for the same period last year. Revenue was $2.08 billion, up 5% from last year’s $1.98 billion.

Apple’s profit margins during the quarter were 24% of sales, down from 38.5% a year ago.

For the first six months of fiscal 1994, Apple earned $57.4 million, or 49 cents per share, down 79% from the previous year’s $272.2 million, or $2.25 per share. Revenue rose 14% to $4.55 billion, from $3.97 billion a year ago.
