Driver With a Gun

Share

* April 13, I joined the millions of L.A. commuters and inched my way home on the Harbor Freeway. About halfway home traffic was breezing along about 50 for a delightful change. Then a guy in a beat-up car in the lane next to me and slightly ahead of me suddenly rolled down his window and held out a gun. I slowed down, gave him a good lead and he pulled the gun in.

Apparently everyone around me saw the act too for none of them passed me and I was going about 20 m.p.h. Then he pulled out the gun again and fired six shots in the air. The cars in front of him panicked and swerved all over the place; amazingly there was no accident. We were like a living body that parted momentarily to let a wound drain its pus, then sent in its white cells to commence healing--only the joke’s on us, we’re not healing.
