The Justice Department has taken over a lawsuit by two whistle blowers charging a national distributor of medical equipment with overbilling Medicare.

The suit was brought against Curative Technologies Inc. and its former subsidiary, UltraMed Inc. of Avoca, Pa., for allegedly fraudulent billing of lymphedema pumps to Medicare, the federal old-age health insurance program, Assistant Atty. Gen. Frank Hunger said Friday.

The pumps are used to treat severe circulatory conditions.
