RICHARD NIXON: 1913-1994 : Public Viewing Begins

The body of former President Richard Nixon arrives today at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd. Public viewing begins this afternoon. Parking will be severely limited, and visitors should expect to walk long distances.

TODAY

* Body arrives: The body arrives at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station at 12:35 p.m. The body will be taken by motorcade to the Nixon Library.

* Arrival at library: About 1 p.m., the motorcade will arrive at the library. The public is invited to witness the arrival of the coffin.

* Public viewing: The body will lie in state, coffin closed, for public viewing in the library lobby. Viewing hours are: 3 p.m. today to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

* TV coverage: ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC plan live, special reports of the military honors when the casket leaves Ft. Stewart, about 6:45 a.m., and again when it arrives at El Toro.

WEDNESDAY

* The funeral: The service will begin at 4 p.m. It will not be open to the public. The Rev. Billy Graham will preside, and eulogies will be delivered by President Clinton, Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.), former Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger and Gov. Pete Wilson.

* TV coverage: ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, cable’s CNN and C-SPAN plan live coverage.

* Street closuers: On the day of the funeral, all streets around the library, including Yorba Linda Boulevard, will be closed.

* Library closure: The Nixon Library, will remain closed until 10 a.m. Thursday.
