ANAHEIM : Apartment Owners Can Get Free Toilets

Share

City apartment owners are eligible to receive free ultra-low-flush toilets to replace older, less efficient models under a new city program.

The city will deliver new toilets to apartment owners who replace at least 25 old toilets. Apartment owners are responsible for installation.

In multifamily housing units, toilets can account for more than 40% of interior water use, city officials said. The new 1.6-gallon fixtures conserve up to five gallons per flush when compared to standard models.

“With rising water costs, conservation programs like this become Anaheim’s most economical water supply source,” said Mariann S. Long, Anaheim public utilities resource efficiency programs manager.

A total of 5,200 toilets are available through the program. Old toilets will be recycled and crushed for roadbed material.
