PLATFORM : The U.N.’s Demise

The siege of Gorazde will leave a profound effect on Bosnia. While some will weep over this indecency, others will be angered, like the world’s 1 billion Muslims, who will express their frustration in different ways.

The United Nations, as an organization that has any potential for representing, let alone implementing, the collective will of the family of nations, is no more. It is buried under the rubble of Gorazde.

The United Nations is a wasteful organization with an enormous budget that was disgracefully used by the U.S. government to punish Saddam Hussein, who is still alive while Iraqi children starve. The United Nations is now used as a shelter for the Serbs in the second major genocide of our century.

While we close the lid on the coffin of the United Nations, we should eulogize a few other victims: The U.S. role as a claimed leader of an alleged Free World, and the principles of law, order and human decency.

Let us be aware, then, that when we leave aggression unchecked, we ransom over new generations to victimization. We took a huge debt on our moral budget, and now we are in deficit.
