Share

The Jefferson Park Improvement Project is holding a community forum at 6 p.m. Thursday with Mayor Richard Riordan at the fellowship hall of Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2230 W. Jefferson Blvd.

The agenda will focus on the mayor’s public safety plan, particularly community-based policing, and his recently announced city budget.

Riordan’s Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative, which will parcel out $80 million in federal funds to eight areas in Los Angeles for grass-roots community and economic improvement, will also be discussed.

Jefferson Park, along with neighboring Leimert Park, are areas that may receive funding if the city adopts the program in October.

10th District Councilman Nate Holden, who recommended the Jefferson Park area for the initiative, also will attend.
