BRIEFLY : Fellowship: At UCLA, 6 Awarded Guggenheims

Nineteen University of California faculty and staff, including six from UCLA, have received prestigious Guggenheim Fellowships for outstanding work in their fields, UC officials announced this week.

The recipients from UCLA are Joyce Appleby, professor of history, for her work on careers, civil society and concepts of the nation between 1789 and 1829; Giorgio Buccallati, professor of history and the ancient Near East, for his work on Khana and the Amorites; William A. V. Clark, professor of geography, for study of international migration; Meg Cranston, art lecturer and an authority on sculpture; Mike Rose, lecturer in writing who focuses on public education, and Mary A. Rouse of the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies.
