Workers digging a hole Thursday for a back yard pool in San Marino unearthed the skeletal remains of a person whose body had been dismembered and buried in three plastic bags, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The remains were uncovered behind the Lorain Road home about 1 p.m., said Sheriff’s Deputy Rich Erickson.
Detectives could not immediately determine the age or sex of the body. They said they would return to the home today to look for clues.
The nine-year resident of the home was not considered a suspect in the case.
