U.S. Woman Flogged in Tehran, Paper Says

TEHRAN —
An American woman was whipped in public in Tehran for drunken behavior, an Iranian newspaper said Thursday.
Texan Mary Jones, 35, was arrested in a Tehran square two weeks ago, the daily Kayhan quoted a judge as saying.
The court reportedly sentenced her to 80 lashes and a fine of 10,000 rials ($5.70) on a charge of drunken behavior in public.
