A Camarillo man was arraigned Friday on one count of drug possession and one count of drug possession for sale, authorities said.

Frank Crawford, 61, was arrested Wednesday by Ventura County sheriff’s deputies, who served a search warrant at his house on the 1700 block of Las Posas Road.

During the search, investigators found a 6-inch pipe bomb in the living room, but Crawford was not charged with its possession because detectives do not have enough evidence to prove it belonged to him, Deputy Dist. Atty. Jim Grunert said.

Experts deactivated the bomb, authorities said.

Narcotics detectives said they had received several calls about suspected drug sales at Crawford’s house and a house next door. Both homes had been under surveillance by sheriff’s deputies for about three months, Sgt. Arnie Aviles said.

Besides the pipe bomb, investigators found gunpowder and other items used to make a bomb. They also found evidence of drug sales, including methamphetamines, scales and packing material, Aviles said.

Crawford was being held at Ventura County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail, authorities said. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 19.

Investigators arrested three other people at the time of drug bust.

Manuel Walkley, 54, of Camarillo, who lived next door to Crawford, was arrested on suspicion of possessing narcotics paraphernalia. He was released Friday from County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.

Donald Perry, 26, of Camarillo was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of methamphetamines. He was released Friday and is scheduled to be arraigned June 3.

Kari Baker, 23, of Camarillo was arrested on suspicion of possessing narcotics paraphernalia and being under the influence of methamphetamines. She was released Friday and is scheduled to be arraigned June 3.
