GRANADA HILLS : Girl, 5, Dies After Falling Into Pool
A 5-year-old Granada Hills girl has died after falling into a swimming pool Friday, authorities said.
Kamber Malta was pronounced dead at Valley Presbyterian Hospital about 2:40 a.m. Monday after being removed from a life-support system seven hours earlier, hospital spokesman Hal Wurtzel said.
Kamber was found by her mother about 9 a.m. Friday in a pool on Tulsa Street in Granada Hills, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. The child had no pulse and was not breathing, Humphrey said.
The mother, who asked that her name not be released, called 911 and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her daughter until paramedics arrived.
Kamber was then taken to Granada Hills Community Hospital, where she had been listed in critical condition. She was transferred to the pediatric intensive-care unit at Valley Presbyterian.
