Valley Vista Continuation High School, which serves public school students with problems and special needs in Huntington Beach, Westminster and Fountain Valley, has won statewide recognition as a model school.

The designation came from the state Department of Education and was announced Tuesday night during the board meeting of the Huntington Beach Union High School District. Valley Vista Continuation High is in Fountain Valley.

“Valley Vista was one of a select group recognized by the state for its exemplary service to at-risk youth,” the school board said in a statement. “We extend our congratulations to Dick Maynard, principal of Valley Vista Continuation High School, and the instructional and support staff who have made possible this unique recognition.”
