Survey Finds U.S. Business Leaders Optimistic: American business leaders grew more upbeat over the past six months and nearly three-quarters say their business will be better off in four years, according to a survey for Reuters and the “Nightly Business Report” by Yankelovich Partners Inc. The survey found that 72% of the business executives rate the economy in “fairly good” shape, up from just 46% in November. Seventy-one percent also said their companies will be better off by 1998, up from 56% in November. The survey of 366 executives at companies with more than $1 million in sales or revenue was conducted by telephone from April 27 to May 4 at a wide range of companies, based on interviews with presidents, chief executives or owners. The margin of error was 5%.
