LOS ANGELES : Actress Lynn Redgrave Files for Bankruptcy

Share

Actress Lynn Regrave filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Los Angeles on Tuesday, her lawyer said.

In her filing, Redgrave, 51, contends that her financial problems began when MCA and Universal Television did not pay a 1987 court-ordered settlement to cover legal fees resulting from her 1981 wrongful dismissal lawsuit against the studio.

Efforts to recover the funds, as well as her pursuit of malpractice claims against her former lawyers, created additional expenses, according to her petition.

“These circumstances have left the actress in need of the court’s protection while she reorganizes her financial affairs,” said attorney David Neale of the Century City-based law firm of Levene & Eisenberg, which also is handling the bankruptcy cases of Zsa Zsa Gabor and Kim Basinger.
