GLENDALE : Armenian Leaders Call for End to Aura of Hate

Share

The scrawled pentagrams and swastikas on an Armenian group’s building last week prompted leaders to appeal Friday for an end to what they feel is a growing aura of hate in Glendale.

“Surely tolerance is the foundation, the wellspring, of any healthy society,” said Raffi Hamparian, governmental affairs director of the Armenian National Committee of America. “That society which is wrought with hate will eventually tear itself asunder.”

Hamparian spoke at a news conference at St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church. He called on the Glendale City Council to condemn “the recent wave of anti-Armenian acts and to work to create a positive relationship between all of Glendale’s citizenry.”
