THE WRATH OF ROTH

Share

Jill Stewart’s chronicle of the trivia contest I’m conducting to sell my home (“The Real Real Estate Game,” Palm Latitudes, April 24) bears little relation to the actual contest.

To my statement that the attorney general’s office reviewed my contest and decided to take no action against it, Herschel Elkins of the attorney general’s office is quoted as saying that that is news to him. It shouldn’t be, though. His office’s letter of Nov. 10, 1993, to my attorney said as much.

And, by the way, my first name happens to be Scott, not Steven; my mother insisted that I make this correction.

Stewart responds: I apologize for the name error. However, the letter Scott Roth refers to said that Elkins’ office had decided not to proceed at that time with litigation against Roth but that Elkins would be monitoring the contest, adding that this should not be construed in any way as endorsement or approval.
