Linda Martin of Laer Pearce & Associates won the distinguished service award for an individual.

The award for distinguished service on the part of an organization went to The Times’ Orange County edition. The newspaper was honored for its cash and advertising contributions to community events, as well as its 1993 Volunteers of Distinction awards program, said Cindy Beyl, a spokeswoman for The Times.

There were 190 entries in the competition, which is sponsored by the local chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
