Warner Bros. Names New Financial Chief

Warner Bros. has named Edward Romano chief financial officer of the studio.

Romano, an accountant who joined Warner in 1968, most recently was senior vice president and corporate controller. He replaces Treasurer Ralph Peterson, who retired after 27 years.

Romano, who is also an executive vice president, reports to studio chiefs Robert Daly and Terry Semel, as well as Barry Meyer, Warner’s chief operating officer.

* Frank W. Pereira has replaced Arthur A. Bushkin as president of Bell Atlantic Corp.’s video services division. The company also named Robert E. Beran president of new-media ventures, Robert L. Townsend acting president of interactive multimedia services and Kenneth D. Van Meter acting president of interactive multimedia platforms. Bushkin, who developed the company’s Stargazer multimedia system, resigned.

* Twentieth Century Fox has appointed Ted Hoff to head Fox Interactive, the studio’s new video game division.

* Castle Rock Entertainment has named Christy Dimmig director of post-production.

* Walt Disney Co. has named George Platisa vice president of corporate controllership.

* Jerome F. Clark is MCA TV’s new senior vice president of finance.

* Amanda Marashinsky has been named vice president of national publicity for MGM/UA Distribution.

* Rysher Entertainment has named Paul Danylik vice president and Bonnie Buckner director of western sales.
