Rostenkowski Case
* Michael Uhlmann’s May 24 Column Right inquires rhetorically whether “someone in the White House may have spoken to someone in the Justice Department” about the department’s criminal investigation into (Rep. Dan) Rostenkowski’s case.
No one in the White House has spoken or will speak to anyone in the Justice Department, or vice versa, about the disposition of this case. To do so would be contrary to this Administration’s written procedures concerning relationships between the White House and the department. As the President’s counsel, it is my responsibility to make sure that no such conversation occurs.
