Ventura Firm to Design Del Monte Warehouse

Essence Engineering Inc., based in Ventura, has been chosen to design and oversee construction of a $3.6-million refrigerated warehouse for Del Monte Fresh Produce Inc. at the Port of Hueneme.

The 40,000-square-foot building will be used to store bananas and melons imported mostly from Central America, Essence President Richard Kasa reported.

He said construction will begin in September and should be completed by March.

Essence also did the engineering work on the nearby $3.5-million BMW plant on Hueneme Road in Oxnard, where cars are processed after being brought into the country through the port.
