SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : R.H. Dana Student Wins Art Contest
Megan Nelms, a first-grader at Richard Henry Dana Elementary School, has won first place in the California Young Farmer Educational Assn. Coloring Contest.
Her entry, a drawing of carrots growing underground, earned her a plaque and a $100 savings bond.
It was displayed at the state Department of Food and Agriculture, the state Capitol and the Sacramento Metro Airport.
More than 23,000 entries were submitted to the contest, designed to increase agricultural awareness.
