PALOS VERDES PENINSULA : Library District Board to Discuss Expenditures
The public will have its last opportunity to comment on the Palos Verdes Library District’s 1994-95 budget at a board meeting June 9.
The library board plans to report on proposals to reduce the cost of furniture for the Peninsula Center Library from $1.2 million to $820,000.
The community group Save Our Libraries recently criticized the district for being extravagant in a time when budgets have been cut to keep the peninsula’s three libraries open.
The district expects to spend nearly $3 million next year, spokeswoman Nancy Mahr said. Expansion and renovation of the center library increased expenditures 7.7% over the current year.
The meeting will be at Rolling Hills Estates City Hall, Palos Verdes Drive North, at 7:30 p.m.
