AMERICAN LEGION ROUNDUP : Quartz Hill Gets 13 Hits to Beat Palmdale in Opener

Todd Rethwisch, David Fischenich and J.D. Smith each had two hits as Quartz Hill defeated Palmdale, 9-6, in an American Legion District 20 baseball opener at Palmdale High on Wednesday.

Rethwisch drove in two runs and scored two and Smith added two runs batted in as Quartz Hill totaled 13 hits off two Palmdale pitchers, including seven off starter David Glick (0-1).

Glick struck out eight in six innings, but walked four and gave up six runs, four of them earned.

Shad Martin had three hits, one RBI and scored a run for Palmdale.

Burbank South 5, Van Nuys South 3--Second baseman Devin Grace had three hits, including a triple, to lead Burbank South in a District 20 game.

Burbank South scored all of its runs in the final inning.
