SANTA ANA : Tour of 6 Historic Homes Will Be Held

Share

The Wilshire Square Neighborhood Assn. will sponsor its sixth annual historic home tour today and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., featuring six homes built in the 1920s and 1930s and some of the neighborhood’s best-kept gardens.

The ballet folklorico group, Relampago del Cielo, will perform traditional Mexican dances, and Bruce Gifford & the Jazz Generation also will perform.

The tour features a display of vintage automobiles and two vintage postcard collections.

Some of the neighborhood’s homes date to 1912 and feature molded ceilings, elaborate fireplaces and curved archways. The group uses proceeds for neighborhood improvement and the association newsletter.

Tickets for the tour are $9.50 the day of the event, to be purchased at 1142 S. Ross St., and $7 in advance. For more information, call (714) 553-3744.

Another neighborhood group that recently hosted a separate home tour, the Floral Park Neighborhood Assn., on Wednesday awarded $1,800 in proceeds from the tour to pay for a college scholarship for Santa Ana High School senior Herlinda Guzman.

That neighborhood group chose Santa Ana High School, Santiago Elementary School and a new boxing club called “Turning Kids On” as recipients of home tour proceeds, a spokeswoman for that association said.
