Gangs’ Push for Peace Offers Life Lessons

* Thank you for publishing the good news inherent in “Gangs Make Sweeping Change” (May 19). The last line in the story is a quote from a neighbor who no longer feels terrorized, “ ‘Now the boys see me walking and they say ‘hello’ to me. . . . This is a good example for the rest of the gangs.’ ”

It is a great example for the rest of the gangs and for all of us. The Times Valley Edition would be doing all of its readers a favor if it followed the stories of these courageous youths who have decided to adopt a kinder, more compassionate lifestyle. Their brave decision to live peacefully while helping heal their community is front page news, and we would all benefit from learning of it everyday.
