Public Invited to Attend Economic Summit

Ventura County residents interested in the economic outlook of the county have been invited to attend the area’s first economic summit Wednesday.

The summit, conducted by UC Santa Barbara, will feature four speakers who will address the status of the local economy as well as the state and nation.

Scheduled speakers include Michael Carney, a professor of finance and real estate at Cal Poly Pomona; Larry Kimbell, director of the Business Forecasting Project at UCLA; Mark Schniepp, director of the Economic Forecast Project at UC Santa Barbara, and John Wilcox, publisher of Ventura County Newspapers.

UC Santa Barbara has held similar economic seminars in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties since 1981.

The one-day summit is sponsored by the Bank of A. Levy, the Los Angeles Times, the county of Ventura and Cellular One.
