COBI’S OFFSIDE

“Cobi’s Offside,” a cartoon that takes both an educational and fun look at soccer, begins today. The author and illustrator, Desmond Armstrong, was a member of the 1990 U.S. World Cup team as well as the 1988 Olympic soccer team that played in Seoul. Armstrong, considered one of the most versatile U.S. players ever, was also the first American to play professionally in Brazil. He is currently a member of the U.S. Soccer Federation board of directors and will serve as a broadcast analyst for this year’s World Cup. The character that serves as a model for the strip is Cobi Jones, a current member of the U.S. team.
